A year in retrospect

With this being the last issue of the year, The Easterner's staff decided on the top 10 stories that affected our campus. These were issues and events that ranged from tragedy to triumph, athletics to student government, weather to irate Montana Grizzly fans(!?). They all had something in common though: in one way or another, they still managed to have some significant connection to Eastern Washington University and its students.

Eagles fall short in NCAA West Regionals

The Eastern Washington University track and field teams wrapped up their season May 30-31 at the NCAA West Regionals. After solid performances at the Big Sky Championship that sent 10 Eastern athletes to the Regionals in Northridge, Calif., the Eagles' best finish was ninth place.

I started as a student here back in 1999. As a point of reference, the JFK Library had just finished being remodeled, and the band Everclear was gearing up for a benefit concert at the mall. Back then if you had asked someone for an opinion of me, and they were being kind, they probably would have described me as a "jerk.
