Police Beat: Apr. 28 - May 4

04/28 11:08 p.m. An employee noticed a baseball on the floor with broken glass in room 110 in LA Hall. A 12x12 textured window had been broken out by the baseball and cost $20 to replace. No suspects have been found.

04/29 4:17 p.m. A female resident of Dressler Hall and her friend were riding the transit bus in downtown Cheney when the female noticed a male riding what appeared to be her bike. Once they got off the bus, the female and her friend went to Dressler Hall to see if her bike was still there and discovered it missing with the front tire still attached to the bike lock. The female was able to flag down an EWU Police Officer and together they were able to track down the male subject on the bike. The male claimed that his roommate had lent him the bike and he didn't know it had been stolen. The male was arrested for possession of stolen property in the third degree.

05/01 1:52 a.m. A CA in Pearce Hall claimed she saw a female resident drop a glass pipe on the ground which smelled like marijuana when it broke in the lobby area. Once police made contact with the female in her room, she admitted that she had smoked marijuana off campus and had also been drinking. She was cited and released for possession of marijuana.

05/01 12:13 p.m. EWU Police responded to Reid Elementary after a female kindergartner tripped and broke her left wrist. The Cheney Fire Department put her wrist in a brace and AMR transported her to Sacred Heart Medical Center.

05/01 12:30 p.m. A male EWU student was taking ASEWU candidate signs he did not like out of their posts. The male subject apparently was trying to make a "political statement." Later a confrontation ensued between the male subject and an ASEWU candidate in the campus mall. The male subject hit the candidate twice in the chest with an open hand. Police located the subject the next day and arrested him for malicious mischief and assault in the fourth degree.

05/02 12:07 p.m. A dispute ensued between two female residents in Pearce Hall. The argument was apparently over playing loud music while the other was trying to sleep or study and neither was respecting the other's wishes. The two females were recommended to counseling to assist in the situation.

05/02 12:10 p.m. A University Bookstore employee noticed a male subject who had been banned from the store for theft. Once the employee attempted to make contact with the subject, the male began to run. The employee ran after him and was able to get the license plate number off of his vehicle. The male was attempting to steal a video game from the store. No arrests have been made.

05/02 8:54 p.m. A Gateway laptop was discovered missing from room 154 in Patterson Hall. The laptop was last seen on 4/22 around 3:30 p.m. and was worth $1,900. No suspects have been found.

05/04 10:55 a.m. A water leak sprung in the new EPIC Adventures office on the first floor of the rec center. The leak had sprung from the ceiling and flooded the hallway. The Rozell Plant called in an emergency plumber.
